Dr. Kumar is a Chairman, Department of Urology,uro-oncology, Robotics & Renal Transplant, Max group of Hospital Delhi. He was a Professor and Chairman of Urology at the Sanjay Gandhi PGI Lucknow. Dr, Kumar received his MBBS in 1978 from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow. He completed his M.S.(General Surgery) in 1982 from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh and M.Ch.(Urology) in 1986 from the same Institute. He received several courses from various Institutes such as: Video-Urodynamics in the Herlev Hospital, Copenhagen, Denmark; Video Urodynamics in the Ham Green Hospital, Bristol, England; Urology in the Institute of Urology, London, England; Transplant & Vascular Surgery in the Monash University,Melbourne, Australia; Transplant & Renovascular Surgery in the Cleveland Clinic Cleveland, Ohio, USA; Endourology & Laparoscopic Surgery in the Barn’s Hospital Washington, University, School of Medicine, St. Louis, USA; Kidney Transplantation in the Royal Victoria Infirmary Newcastle upon Tyne, UK; Endourology & Laparoscopy in the John Hopkins University, Baltimore. USA; Transrectal ultrasound training in Herlave Medical Centre, USA; Robotic Surgery in Detroit, USA. He was a consultant urologist at Addenbrooke’s NHS Foundation, Cambridge, UK.

Dr. Kumar has been actively involved in clinical & basic research & published over 200 papers in various journals. He has also written several book chapters & review articles. His clinical research in transplantation includes utilization of stent to avoid urological complication, use of marginal donors, cost effective immunosuppression, cost effective laparoscopic live donor nephrectomy, robotic surgery, and reconstruction of multiple vessels. His clinical & basic research includes in the uro-oncology & stone disease BPH and robotic surgery. Dr. Kumar is an active member of various associations and societies such as : American Urological Association; British Association of Urological Surgeon; Societe Internationale D’Urologie; International Society of Nephrology; European Association of Urology; Asian Society of Transplantation; Association of Surgeons of India; Urological Society of India; Indian Society of Organ Transplantation; Urological Society of India (Northern Chapter); Indian Society of Peritoneal Dialysis
